Plans, provides and coordinates nursing care which includes tracking patient history, administering medicine and treatment, communicating with doctors and determining treatment plans. Nurses must also be adept at medical equipment. They work in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, and other facilities. Home and public nurses make house calls and visit patients on-site.
Currently, a master of science in nursing (MSN) is required at a minimum. A doctor of nursing practice (DNP) may be required in the future. Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) must have at least a master's degree to sit for one of the APRN specialization exams.
