Also known as operating room technicians, surgical technologists are an integral part of a doctor's team before, during, and after surgery. They prep surgical rooms prior to surgery to ensure cleanliness and sterilization, prep the patient, and assist the doctor during surgery by handing them the correct tools. They are also responsible for counting the tools used during surgery and prepare, care for, and dispose of tissue specimens taken for laboratory analysis.
