FAQ

  • Young people from the ages of 16-24 who are neither employed nor enrolled in school or postsecondary education. The J.E.T. program focuses on ages 18-24.

  • J.E.T. is a collaborative program to assist young people who are currently unemployed and not enrolled in school to discover a career and educational pathway that works for them.

  • Individuals must follow the W.I.O.A. and/or NextGen eligibility process to participate in J.E.T.

  • Our definition of quality employment means that an individual is earning a family-sustaining wage, is offered basic benefits (such as healthcare), and has the opportunity to learn and grow at their place of employment.

  • We work with local employers from various sectors and can work to pair you with a work opportunity that is aligned with your interests.

  • Individualized assistance for career matching, up to 48 hours of paid time in professional development courses, access to wrap-around services to ensure success during your journey, and a connection with a community mentor to support you.

  • A community mentor is someone hand-selected and vetted from the community who is there to provide guidance and advice when needed. This individual will ideally share a similar background to the participant in a personal or professional way.

J.E.T. aims to increase post-secondary credential attainment and establish local workforce connections, empowering young people in Burke County to pursue gainful employment in skilled pathways.
